Germany is home to Europe’s third and fourth largest tech hubs, Berlin and Munich. This makes it one of the best countries for software developers. In this article, we’ll explore what Angular developers in Germany can expect to earn at different stages of their careers, along with how this compares to JavaScript and React salaries.
Average junior Angular developer salary
Entry-level Angular developers with fewer than two years’ experience should earn an average annual income of €35 905. This is almost exactly the same as rookie JavaScript developers, who earn a nominal 0.2% (€81) less.
With two-to-four years of experience, Angular devs can expect a 27.5% (€9 886) pay hike to a salary of €45 791. That’s marginally ahead of JavaScript (3.1%, or €1 382) and nominally behind React (0.1%, or €31) developers at the same level.
After four years on the job, Angular developers should see a smaller increase of 8.8% (€4 009) to earn €49 800 a year. JavaScript devs at this stage typically overtake slightly by 0.9% (€469), while React devs pull ahead by 9.3% (€5 104).
Angular developers likely see competitive salary increases early on because junior developers are more prone to switching between jobs, which gives them the opportunity to negotiate for new, more lucrative salaries.
Average Angular Developer Salaries by Experience
Average Salary by Years Experience, showing 25th and 75th percentiles
Years of Experience | 25th Percentile | Average | 75th Percentile |
---|---|---|---|
0-2 | €28,740 | €35,905 | €47,100 |
2-4 | €36,425 | €45,791 | €62,750 |
4-6 | €43,000 | €49,800 | €66,000 |
6-10 | €50,100 | €62,885 | €77,750 |
10-15 | €58,000 | €70,157 | €92,000 |
Average senior Angular developer salary
With six-to-ten years under their belts, Angular developers can look forward to a 26.3% (€13 085) increase, bringing their earnings to €62 885. This notable pay rise puts them 2% (1 217) ahead of JavaScript devs in the same bracket, and just 0.2% (€96) behind those working in React.
Past the 10-year mark, Angular developers can expect a smaller but still double-digit raise of 11.6% (€7 272) to a €70 157 income. Interestingly, highly experienced JavaScript and React developers see more significant increases, meaning they earn 7% (€5 277) and 9.1% (€6 982) more respectively.
Senior Angular developers should have a good understanding of software architecture patterns, ensure responsive implementation, know how to implement scalable and supportable design, and be able to collaborate with other developers, analysts and designers to solve issues. These responsibilities may explain why salaries actually grow more for Angular devs once they have at least six years of experience.
Keep in mind
The data in this article is taken from StackOverflow’s 2022 Developer Survey open data. In this article, ‘salary’ refers to the gross annual salary (before tax) provided by 300 survey respondents from Germany who identified as Angular developers.
We only included salary insights for experience levels with enough data points to ensure that the amounts represent Angular developers in the country. That’s why we’ve omitted developers with more than fifteen years of experience from the article.
We also ran an outlier analysis to identify data points skewing the distribution of salaries. These points were removed from the final dataset to ensure that the amounts are representative of Angular developers in Germany. We’ve also included the 25th and 75th percentiles to give you further information about the distribution of salary data.
Average salaries are single data points and only one part of a bigger story. Many respondents may earn significantly more or significantly less than these averages. However, we hope to show underlying trends by mapping the average salaries for different experience levels.
These averages should not be used to estimate what your actual salary will or should be. Salaries depend on the company size, industry, individual, perks and nature of the work. These factors all influence the salary a company will offer to a prospective hire. In addition, most developers are “fluent” in several languages and work across multiple roles, which will also affect the final figures.
It’s also important to remember that every individual’s context is different. Salary is a personal conversation that should take place between employee and employer.
